Three of the most popular spiritual leaders have declared their candidacy for President this coming 2010 election
Many critics and politicians were trying to show their disagreement about it. The spiritual leaders whose about to enter the political arena and will run for Presidency were
BROTHER MIKE VELARDE
(El Shaddai)
or better known as Brother Mike is the founder and Servant Leader of the Philippine based Catholic Charismatic religious group El Shaddai Movement which has a following of an estimated three to seven million Filipinos.
Velarde is the owner and chairman of Amvel Land Development Corporation, a real estate company which received the single biggest housing loan from the government in 2004 for the construction of Amvel Mansions, a 3,000-unit residential project at the Amvel Business Park in ParaƱaque. Claims that the loan was political payback for supporting President Arroyo's administration in the 2004 elections were denied by the government.
El Shaddai, like other Philippine Catholic and church organizations such as the Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is deeply involved with Philippine politics
BROTHER EDDIE VILLANUEVA
(JESUS IS LORD)
"Bro. Eddie" Villanueva (born October 6, 1946) is a religious and political leader in the Philippines. He is the founder and leader of the Jesus Is Lord Church. In 2004, he was a presidential candidate in the Philippine election. He lost the election to incumbent Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and placed last in a field of five candidates, with 6.2% of the vote. On August 21, 2009, he announced that he will be running in the 2010 election.
He is the owner and chairman of ZOE Broadcasting Network, a commercial TV station currently operated by GMA Network through Quality TeleVision (QTV). He is also the owner and president of Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation Inc. (JILCF), a Christian school in Bocaue, Bulacan.
FATHER EDDIE PANLILIO
Eddie "Among Ed" Tongol Panlilio is a Filipino Roman Catholic priest and Governor of the province of Pampanga. He was suspended from his priestly ministry upon announcing his intention to run as governor. He is the second priest to be elected to public office in the Philippines
In 2009, he expressed confidence that the Vatican will allow him to run for the presidency in 2010. He told reporters that it is more likely the Holy See will approve the dispensation from his priesthood if he decides to push with his presidential bid. He has said that he will write a formal letter to church officials in the country.
Now, let me ask you will you consider them in running for Presidency this coming 2010 election?
Do you agree that Church should be involved in any political matters?
