PLANE CRASH

An airplane seat, a fuel slick and pieces of white debris scattered over three miles of open ocean marked the site in the mid-Atlantic on Tuesday where Air France Flight 447 plunged to its doom.Brazilian military pilots spotted the wreckage, sad reminders bobbing on waves, in the ocean 400 miles (640 kilometers) northeast of these islands off Brazil's coast. The plane carrying 228 people vanished Sunday about four hours into its flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The effort to recover the debris and locate the all-important black box recorders, which emit signals for only 30 days, is expected to be exceedingly challenging.Brazilian military pilots first spotted the floating debris early Tuesday in two areas about 35 miles (60 kilometers) apart, said Air Force spokesman Jorge Amaral. The area is not far off the flight path of Flight 447.The cause of the crash will not be known until the black boxes are recovered

KATRINA HALILI SUES MRS. KHO FOR LIBEL

Katrina Halili on Friday pressed libel charges against the mother of Dr. Hayden Kho at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.Mrs. Kho has accused Halili of introducing drugs to her son. She also accused talent manager Lolit Solis of instructing the actress to shed tears before television cameras to gain sympathy.Halili’s lawyers Raymond Palad and Mamyrlito Tan proceeded to the prosecutor’s office from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), where Halili was supposed to undergo a drug test.Tan explained that the supposed drug test was canceled to give way to the filing of charges against Kho’s mother.“Pero instead na i-cancel yung meeting for invitation, nag-attend pa rin kami sa PDEA nagkaroon naman ng magandang pag-uusap [but instead of postponing the meeting, we still attended it]," Tan said.vThe drug test would be rescheduled.

HAYDEN KHO AND KATRINA HALILI SENATE FACE OFF

Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili are now in the Senate for their public hearing of the sex scandal issue. I was appalled after hearing how Hayden Kho described his relationship with Katrina. According to the Dr. Kho the relationship was all about “Drugs and sex, drugs and sex.” To which Katrina replied “Minahal ko si Hayden”.
When Kho looked back at her, she broke down and told Kho “Kapal ng mukha mo nakakatingin ka pa sa akin (You even have the face to look at me!)”. Senators have to call for a break after tensions mounted.
After showing immense interest in the
controversy, the Filipino public now expects that they will be treated as mature members of our society whose guidance and decision is not sought only during election time but in critical moments like this where public sensibility will be seriously offended if they will be shut out of information over an issue that will surely affect the future direction of this country.
Apparently some guy decided to splash water at Hayden Kho. It was said that the man behind that incident was a former police and mayor. There are rumors that it was scripted and some says its due to extreme anger because of what Dr Kho did.
Here's the video for the Katrina Halili And Hayden Kho Face Off

HAYDEN KHO-KATRINA HALILI SCANDAL

Finding himself in the center of a raging controversy over his sex videos with model-actress Katrina Halili and two other women, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho is expected to appear at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) today to explain his side on the controversy, which may cost him his profession and even his freedom. The NBI issued a subpoena that also covers Kho’s girlfriend Dr. Vicki Belo, also a prominent cosmetic surgeon. The sex videos have spread on the Internet and DVD copies are bestsellers in many shops in Quiapo. Optical Media Board chairman Edu Manzano said Eric Chua was a fraternity brother of Kho but they allegedly had a falling out. Manzano said they received a tip on the existence of the video last month and that someone was trying to sell the video to producers for P20 million, but he did not say if it was Chua. Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan has placed Dr. Hayden Kho on the Bureau of Immigration’s watchlist to prevent him from leaving the country without clearance from the Department of Justice. Revilla is encouraging the other women in the sex videos to also sue Kho. The celebrity doctor was reported to have about 40 sex videos in his collection. Meanwhile, Sen. Pia Cayetano filed Senate Bill 3267 or the “Anti-Video Voyeurism Act of 2009” to curb the proliferation of sex videos by prohibiting and penalizing the recording, sharing, showing or exhibiting of private acts without the consent of the persons involved. Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago earlier filed SB 1100 or “An Act Penalizing Photo and Video Voyeurism.” Kho is likely to lose his license as physician based on Halili’s account of her side in the controversy, the chief lawyer of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said.

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has apologized for a recent joke about mail-order brides that triggered outrage and led to demands for an apology from the Philippine government. In a May 12 interview with US talk show host David Letterman, Baldwin said he was thinking about "getting a Filipina mail-order bride", a remark that sparked uproar in the Philippines.Baldwin has now apologized for the comments in a blog posted on the Huffington Post saying he was sorry for "anyone who took offense.""I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such," Baldwin said.Baldwin's interview has been widely circulated on the video sharing site YouTube, angering the huge Filipino diaspora. At least three members of the Philippine Senate had also demanded an apology, stressing that the mail-order bride business was outlawed.Manila's consul general to New York, Cecilia Rebon, was later asked to send a letter to the producers of the Letterman show and to Baldwin "to express deep concern over the derogatory remark," the government said.

LIST OF TERROR DISEASES (2004-2009)

SALMONELLA PEANUT OUTBREAK-In late 2008 and early 2009, nine people died and at least 691 people, half of them children, became sick, in 46 states in the outbreak of food poisoning from eating products containing peanuts, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Among persons with available information, 23% reported being hospitalized. The real numbers are likely much higher, since for every reported case of salmonella, another 38 cases go unreported, according to the CDC.

MELAMINE SCARE- On 17 September 2008, Health Minister Chen Zhu stated that tainted milk formula had "sickened more than 6,200 children, and that more than 1,300 others, mostly newborns, remain hospitalised with 158 suffering from acute kidney failure". By 23 September, about 54,000 children were reported to be sick and 4 had died. An additional 10,000 cases were reported from the provinces by 26 September. A World Health Organisation official said 82 percent of the children made ill were 2 years of age or below. The Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety said that 99% of victims were aged under 3 years. Ten Hong Kong children were diagnosed with kidney problems, at least four cases were detected in Macau, and six in Taiwan. Non-human casualties included a lion cub and two baby orangutans which had been fed Sanlu milk powder at Hangzhou Zoo.

MENINGOCCOCCEMIA-Meningoccocemia (which can be more lethal than SARs) that hit the headlines. Meningococcemia can kill more rapidly than any other infectious disease. Death may happen almost immediately when an individual inhaled air droplets or respiratory secretions contaminated with the bacterium from an afflicted person. However, persons with stronger defenses may resist the offensive of the disease within 10 days starting from affliction. There had been no reported cases in Baguio City for the past five years until last October 2004, when nine of the two dozen infected cases died.Meningococcal infections remains to be a serious health problem throughout the world. Neisseria meningitides strains are classified into serogroups of which 13 has been identified. Groups A, B, C, Y and W-135 are the major pathogens involved in human disease.

BIRDS FLU ATTACK-The global spread of highly pathogenic H5N1 in birds is considered a significant pandemic threat. While other H5N1 strains are known, they are significantly different from a current, highly pathogenic H5N1 strain on a genetic level, making the global spread of this new strain unprecedented. The H5N1 strain is a fast-mutating, highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) found in multiple bird species. In the first two months of 2006 H5N1 spread to other Asian countries (such as India), north Africa, and Europe in wild bird populations possibly signaling the beginning of H5N1 being endemic in wild migratory bird populations on multiple continents for decades, permanently changing the way poultry are farmed. In addition, the spread of highly pathogenic H5N1 to wild birds, birds in zoos and even sometimes to mammals (example: pet cats) raises many unanswered questions concerning best practices for threat mitigation, trying to balance reducing risks of human and nonhuman deaths from the current nonpandemic strain with reducing possible pandemic deaths by limiting its chances of mutating into a pandemic strain. Not using vaccines can result in the need to kill significant numbers of farm and zoo birds, while using vaccines can increase the chance of a flu pandemic.
S.A.R.S OUTBREAK- Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is a respiratory disease in humans which is caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV). There has been one near pandemic to date, between the months of November 2002 and July 2003, with 8,096 known infected cases and 774 deaths (a case-fatality rate of 9.6%) worldwide being listed in the World Health Organization's (WHO) 21 April 2004 concluding report. Within a matter of weeks in early 2003, SARS spread from the Guangdong province of China to rapidly infect individuals in some 37 countries around the world. As of May 2006, the spread of SARS has been fully contained thanks to the efforts of the WHO, with the last infected human case seen in June 2003 (disregarding a laboratory induced infection case in 2004). However, SARS is not claimed to have been eradicated (unlike smallpox), as it may still be present in its natural host reservoirs (animal populations) and may potentially return into the human population in the future.

SWINE FLU OUTBREAK: Swine influenza refers to influenza caused by those strains of influenza virus, called swine influenza virus (SIV), that usually infect (is endemic in) pigs. As of 2009 these strains are all found in Influenza C virus and the subtypes of Influenza A virus known as H1N1, H1N2, H3N1, H3N2, and H2N3. Swine influenza is common in pigs in the midwestern United States (and occasionally in other states), Mexico, Canada, South America, Europe (including the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy), Kenya, Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan and other parts of eastern Asia. The 2009 flu outbreak in humans, known as "swine flu", is due to a new strain of influenza A virus subtype H1N1 that contains genes closely related to swine influenza. The origin of this new strain is unknown. However, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) reports that this strain has not been isolated in pigs. This strain can be transmitted from human to human, and causes the normal symptoms of influenza.

SWINE FLU OUTBREAK

The 2009 outbreak of swine flu is an epidemic of a new Influenza A H1N1 strain of flu virus that was clinically identified in April 2009.The United States (US) experienced an outbreak of Influenza A virus subtype H1N1, commonly known as the “swine flu”, in the spring of 2009. The outbreak apparently spread from an earlier outbreak in Mexico. Initial US infections occurred in late March 2009 in California, and by mid-April had spread to scores of people across several states. Public health officials in the United States and the World Health Organization (WHO) expressed serious concern because the initial outbreak was suspected in over 100 deaths in Mexico, transmitted easily from person to person, and no vaccine was available, prompting President Obama to declare a public health emergency. By the end of April, hundreds of people were confirmed or suspected as infected, one person had died, and hundreds of schools were closed, keeping over 169,000 students at home.
The influenza virus has also caused several pandemic threats over the past century, including the pseudo-pandemic of 1947, the 1976 swine flu outbreak and the 1977 Russian flu, all caused by the H1N1 subtype. The world has been at an increased level of alert since the SARS epidemic in Southeast Asia (caused by the SARS coronavirus). The level of preparedness was further increased and sustained with the advent of the H5N1 bird flu outbreaks because of H5N1's high rate of virulence.
The new strain has spread widely beyond Mexico and the U.S., with confirmed cases in eighteen countries and suspected cases in forty-two. Many countries have advised their inhabitants not to travel to infected areas. Areas including Australia, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, ,Singapore, South Korea ,Thailand And here in our Country as well are monitoring visitors returning from flu-affected areas to identify people with fever and respiratory symptoms. Many countries have also issued warnings to visitors of flu-affected areas to contact a doctor immediately if they had flu-like symptoms.
Recommendations to prevent infection by the virus consist of the standard personal precautions against influenza. This includes frequent washing of hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, especially after being out in public. The CDC advises not touching the mouth, nose or eyes, as these are primary modes of transmission. When coughing, they recommend coughing into a tissue and disposing of the tissue, then immediately washing the hands. There is no risk of flu transmission from the consumption of properly-cooked pork products

Mar Roxas took the lead

2010 Election is getting so near and many politicians were making their own moves to build up their names for this upcoming major event. We might find it annoying but we will going to se more of these politicians in the Television, radios, streamers, posters, and more as a part of their advertisement for their campaign.
Obviously, Mar Roxas took the lead among the others. He's campaign is now airing and the concept tackles about Poverty.
Aside from Mar Roxas, you can also see Pia Cayetano as she promotes a detergent soap. Other politicians like Manny Villar, Francis Escudero, Bong Revilla have their own advertisement as well.

Its Martin

Martin Nievera was chosen to sing the National Anthem for the "Pacquiao Vs Hatton"s fight. Honestly if i am to choose between Martin Nievera and Lea Salongga, well i would rather choose Lea. Iam nothing against Martin, Its just that we all know that Lea once sang our National Anthem well. And Since It was Martin, I was just hoping that we will not hear any "slang" from him while sing our National Song knowing the fact thatMartin has his Natural Foreign accent and he got used to sing English songs. But then I know Martin will work hard for this upcoming events. Cheers!!
