Spiriual Leaders on Political Arena

Three of the most popular spiritual leaders have declared their candidacy for President this coming 2010 election
Many critics and politicians were trying to show their disagreement about it. The spiritual leaders whose about to enter the political arena and will run for Presidency were

BROTHER MIKE VELARDE
(El Shaddai)

or better known as Brother Mike is the founder and Servant Leader of the Philippine based Catholic Charismatic religious group El Shaddai Movement which has a following of an estimated three to seven million Filipinos.
Velarde is the owner and chairman of Amvel Land Development Corporation, a real estate company which received the single biggest housing loan from the government in 2004 for the construction of Amvel Mansions, a 3,000-unit residential project at the Amvel Business Park in ParaƱaque. Claims that the loan was political payback for supporting President Arroyo's administration in the 2004 elections were denied by the government.

El Shaddai, like other Philippine Catholic and church organizations such as the Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is deeply involved with Philippine politics

"Bro. Eddie" Villanueva (born October 6, 1946) is a religious and political leader in the Philippines. He is the founder and leader of the Jesus Is Lord Church. In 2004, he was a presidential candidate in the Philippine election. He lost the election to incumbent Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and placed last in a field of five candidates, with 6.2% of the vote. On August 21, 2009, he announced that he will be running in the 2010 election.
He is the owner and chairman of ZOE Broadcasting Network, a commercial TV station currently operated by GMA Network through Quality TeleVision (QTV). He is also the owner and president of Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation Inc. (JILCF), a Christian school in Bocaue, Bulacan.

FATHER EDDIE PANLILIO

Eddie "Among Ed" Tongol Panlilio is a Filipino Roman Catholic priest and Governor of the province of Pampanga. He was suspended from his priestly ministry upon announcing his intention to run as governor. He is the second priest to be elected to public office in the Philippines

In 2009, he expressed confidence that the Vatican will allow him to run for the presidency in 2010. He told reporters that it is more likely the Holy See will approve the dispensation from his priesthood if he decides to push with his presidential bid. He has said that he will write a formal letter to church officials in the country.

Now, let me ask you will you consider them in running for Presidency this coming 2010 election?
Do you agree that Church should be involved in any political matters?

In the Bible, the ones who were mentioned in one chapter known as the Hall of Faith in Hebrews (Chapter 11), names mentioned were those people who had their personal relationships with God. It didn't matter who they were. David was known as the man after God's own heart and He became a king. In this country, we have tried so many things and people, well educated and not. We tried to put people in the position from those who came from prominent families and those who were not. We tried electing celebrities, even a house wife. Why can't we give chance for somebody or someone who for so many years made a stand to help people come together for one purpose of knowing and serving God? After all, they won't help built a church for so many years just to be on a government position for let's say 6 years or so? I am from the JIL church but just 3 years ago, before I became born again, I didn't know that Bro. Eddie was the leader of our church. Even then, I've seen their passion (church) to serve God and at the same time, strive to be excellent and be different makers for this country. And I said to myself, I'd like to have that same passion in me. I believe at some point, that there should be a separation between the church and the "government" but never with a nation. Laws of men have flaws. I'm saying this because we need to be open to changes and not conform dun sa nakasanayan. There are a lot of possibilities for success and freedom out there na hindi nagka-come into life kasi we never accept change. So let's give these leaders a chance and not to take it against them. Maraming nagugutom at papagutom sa bansa natin. Let's open our minds and tanggalin na ang mga negatibong nakasanayan.

technically, they're still Filipino. and as Filipino, they have the right to get involved with politics.

personally, i hate the idea of the Church meddling with Government. it's stated in our law. besides, i think Church people should focus on the seemingly deteriorating faith and values of the people. how can priests/any church leader lead well if their Church has low morals?

First and foremost, this is my belief. Church and State is not separable. Especially for me as a Catholic. Catholic faith demands us to live a a Christian life. And the life that we talk about here is my whole life, personal life, religious life, love life, even including our political life.

The teaching of Jesus must be applied to all aspects of life. That is the reason why I believe there is no problem if a priest will become our president.

As for, my only choices in 2010 are those who advocate the teachings of the Church. No ifs and no buts.

as for me i think everybody has the right to run for presidency as long as they believe they can handle the responsibility of being in that position. it's people's choice that matters afterall. we don't have the right to critic those who have declared their candidacy for President because we ourselves do not know yet their capability for handling people...and the nation itself..unless they have sitted on that chair. let's give them a chance...who knows...one of them will be a good leader :)
